Creating a Named Section
Creating Named Sections in your documents allows
you to search for words and phrases in a particular part of each document in your
index. To create a Named Section:
- Select Index > Sections from the menu. The
Sections window opens.
- Click Add to open the Section window.
Fill in the windows as follows:
- Name by which you would like this section to be known
Provide a single-word name for the section. This name does not have to match the
paragraph label. - Paragraph label where the section commences
Set the name or phrase that starts the paragraph at the beginning of the section.
This needs to be a word that already exists in your documents at the beginning of
a paragraph or section, such as a heading or title. - Paragraph label of the following section
Enter the name or phrase that begins the paragraph following the one you are defining.
It must be a word or phrase that occurs in all the documents to be searched. Named
Sections must be discrete if they are to function properly.
- Click OK again to return to Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console. You can now incorporate Named Sections
into your queries, using the "IN"
operator.
Note that you can perform structured searching using the "IN" operator even if you
haven't defined your own named sections. Defined named sections are mainly of use
where the sections in which you wish to search extend over multiple paragraphs,
or you wish Perceptive Search to be able to display a list of all available named sections.
